Yesteryear Collection

The name "Sting Ray" was retired after the 1967 model year, but in 1969 the name was resurrected in a dazzling sports car that would set production number records for Corvette. The legendary name was now one word, "Stingray" written in script along the front fender. The new Stingray featured a standard 350 cubic inch engine that produced 300 horsepower, but it also provided five engine options - from a 350 cid/350 horsepower engine up to an incredible 427 cid engine with 427 horsepower.

Indeed, the '69 Stingray's reputation for power was a large part of its appeal and this was proven time and again on the track both in America and abroad. So amazing were the Corvette Stingray's power options that one engine boasted acceleration from 0 to 60 in a mere 8.4 seconds. The Stingray came in both a coupe and convertible with a detachable hardtop for the coupe available as an option. The aerodynamic front end was carried over from the 1968 model and the tunnel-back coupe design replaced the split-window fastback. Power steering continued to be a popular option with nearly 60% of the 1969 Corvettes equipped with it - a 45 per cent increase over five years. Powerful to drive, exciting to sit in and stunning to see, the 1969 Corvette Stingray was a masterful vehicle - one that continued in the Corvette tradition of putting pizzaz on the American highway with quality engineering and extraordinary design!
